Kelly Velasco has worked in the California land trust community for nearly a decade. As Associate Director, she is responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with WHF’s public agency and statewide community partners, assisting with the Foundation’s land transactions, and implementing new land and community programs. Most recently, Kelly worked as the Program Director for the California Council of Land Trusts where she helped develop and implement CCLT’s accreditation, membership, education, and Conservation Horizons programs. Kelly is not new to WHF, having worked as Education and Outreach Manager for the Foundation from 2008-2013, where she engaged with over 3000 students of all ages in and around the greater Sacramento area to foster awareness of human impacts on wildlife habitat and conservation of native ecosystems. In addition, she has found creative ways to connect land trusts and other nonprofits to create opportunities for community members to spend time outdoors. Kelly has extensive leadership experience in directing large fundraising events including serving as the Director of the regional, annual Calling Back the Salmon Celebration in Lincoln, CA, All Aboard California-a Farm to Fork dinner event, and large statewide conferences. She currently serves as the Secretary for the Board of the Lighthouse Counseling and Family Resource Center and is the Chair of the City of Lincoln Parks and Recreation Committee. Kelly is a graduate of the University of Texas, Austin and holds a current Bilingual/Multicultural Teaching Credential from the University of California at Davis.
