Rebecca Herrera has been a dedicated volunteer and intern at the Wildlife Heritage Foundation since 2016, demonstrating a consistent commitment to conservation and environmental stewardship. Her journey with WHF began during her student years, where she actively sought opportunities to contribute to meaningful projects.
As a student intern, Rebecca’s contributions were diverse and impactful. She played a key role in the Sun City Urban Bird Project, gaining valuable experience in urban wildlife monitoring and conservation. This involved hands-on work, including the installation and monitoring of storm drain covers, a crucial component in protecting local bird populations from man-made hazards. Furthermore, Rebecca’s technical skills were instrumental in assisting with the implementation of WHF’s new property database, showcasing her ability to manage and organize critical information.
Currently pursuing a B.S. in Environmental Science, Rebecca is deeply invested in expanding her knowledge and practical skills within the field. Her academic pursuits are directly aligned with her passion for conservation, and she eagerly applies her classroom learning to real-world projects at WHF. Rebecca’s long-term goal is to join the WHF stewardship team upon graduation, where she hopes to contribute to the preservation and restoration of natural habitats.
