California Rose

The California Rose (Rosa californica) is a deciduous (all leaves fall off after the growing season ends) shrub that forms thickets of very small (1-2 in) pink flowers. This is the wild rose of California. Its fragrant, 3/4-in red, smooth hips are excellent for making tea. The rose provides erosion control as well as food and cover for wildlife.
