Placer County is a county located in the California Sierra Nevada, in what is known as the Gold Country. It stretches from the suburbs of Sacramento to Lake Tahoe and the Nevada border. Because of the expansion of the Sacramento metropolitan area, Placer County is one of the fastest growing counties in the state.

3-D South

The 70-acre 3-D South project is southwest of Lincoln, Placer County, California. The site is part of approximately 321 acres of mitigation property owned by Wildlands, Inc. and will be managed by Wildlands as the John D. Vincent Vernal Pool Preserve. WHF will monitor the work of Wildlands, Inc. and the preserve area to ensure compliance with the terms of the conservation easement.

The Lincoln Hills preserve encompasses approximately 686 acres of perpetually protected property within the Sun City Lincoln Hills development in Lincoln, California. The protected area has wetlands, perennial streams, ponds, tributary drainage channels, and grasslands within its boundary. The function of WHF is to oversee and ensure compliance with stipulations set forth in the conservation easement. An endowment has been established to fund annual costs to monitor open-space conditions, generate compliance reports for submittal to agencies, and provide the homeowners' association with information about the preserve.

The Orchard 80 project comprises 80 acres of open-space and riparian preserve in Placer County, California, southwest of Lincoln. The open-space land south and west of the preserve is currently maintained as the Orchard Creek Conservation Bank. The additional property was acquired to meet the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' 404 permit requirement for the Del Webb Sun City Lincoln Hills Project to preserve 80 acres of open space and establish a long-term management plan for the portions containing preserved wetlands, protecting them from further development and establishing them as wildlife habitat in perpetuity.

The Sierra Springs (formerly Boulder Creek) project is an open-space preserve located in Placer County near Loomis, California. The preserve area comprises approximately 10 acres of wetlands and waters of the United States within a 60.5-acre residential subdivision. The wetlands consist of seasonal wetlands and a drainage channel; the uplands comprise grasslands with clusters of oaks, cottonwoods, and shrubs. As preserve steward, WHF will monitor the wetlands for compliance and inspect the preserve area for activities consistent with the conservation easement.

St. Joseph Church

The St. Joseph Church project is approximately 1.25 miles east of State Highway 65 in Placer County , California . As part of the project, a church and associated buildings will be constructed in phases on a 16-acre parcel of land. Phase I of the project began in late 2005. The preserve area comprises approximately 2.0 acres along the northern and eastern boundaries of the project site and would protect a perennial creek, seasonal wetlands, and intermittent drainage.
