Objectives

The objectives of WHF are to:

  • Protect and restore native plant and animal habitat;
  • Promote knowledge and understanding of our wildlife heritage;
  • Develop sound and effective stewardship practices;
  • Foster education and volunteer participation in wildlife conservation;
  • Provide research opportunities for studies of land-management activities and habitat-restoration efforts;
  • Work with farms and ranches to create and protect viable habitat;
  • Accept and manage conservation easements and endowment accounts for properties, including mitigation banks and conservation banks;
  • Assist public agencies in conservation programs through the solicitation, receipt, and management of grants for land acquisition, restoration, and stewardship; and
  • Facilitate protection and management of open landscapes and improve the potential they harbor for wildlife.
