Objectives
The objectives of WHF are to:
- Protect and restore native plant and animal habitat;
- Promote knowledge and understanding of our wildlife heritage;
- Develop sound and effective stewardship practices;
- Foster education and volunteer participation in wildlife conservation;
- Provide research opportunities for studies of land-management activities and habitat-restoration efforts;
- Work with farms and ranches to create and protect viable habitat;
- Accept and manage conservation easements and endowment accounts for properties, including mitigation banks and conservation banks;
- Assist public agencies in conservation programs through the solicitation, receipt, and management of grants for land acquisition, restoration, and stewardship; and
- Facilitate protection and management of open landscapes and improve the potential they harbor for wildlife.
